Derrick O’Neal Biography

Derrick O’Neal is a licensed attorney (Colorado, Illinois, and District of Columbia), who resides in the State of Colorado.  While employed by a State government agency for the past 12 years, Derrick has oversight for billions of dollars in securities that were offered/sold in the State of Colorado.  

In addition, he was employed for approximately seventeen (17) years at a large insurance company as a Managing Compliance Consultant and as an Acting Director in the Compliance Department/Law Department. For numerous years, Derrick was a member of the adjunct faculty, Business Department, of Metropolitan State University of Denver. He was the Academic Coordinator (Risk Management) for the College for Financial Planning in Denver. 

 

Derrick has written two (2) textbooks on Risk Management, numerous articles on insurance, financial planning, estate planning, and securities. He published two articles on Crowdfunding (national/international) in 2019.  

Derrick is a graduate of Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, LA and Chicago State University, in Chicago, Illinois where he earned a BS Degree in Business Administration and Management.  .

Patricia Conyers-O'Neal Biography

Patricia (Pat) Conyers O’Neal is the Procurement Operations Manager for a large Colorado State Agency. Pat manages the day-to-day operations in Purchasing and consequently has developed an expertise in the development of effective solicitations.  Pat has facilitated many complex Request for Proposal (RFP) transactions and has developed an understanding of how a well thought out and intentional proposal can make a difference in winning public procurement awards. 

Pat is a native of Chicago, Illinois,  where she attended and graduated from Chicago State University with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing.   She has also done extensive graduate work in business and taken several classes at the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP).   

 

Having a love for community and volunteerism, Pat is very active in the Denver community. She does presentations and has participated on many community and local agency panels to explain and discuss the State Procurement and solicitations process.   Pat loves supporting and patronizing small businesses.  In her position as a Procurement Manager, she readily supports a competitive solicitation process so that small businesses have an opportunity to compete for new state contracts.   She works with various entrepreneurial groups to promote small businesses and innovative methods to help small businesses grow.
